Before using this guide, please make sure you already have a Mozeo account and that you’re
signed in. If not, you can
sign up here.
Also, before you send any messages, you must have
prior consent
from your contacts - this means you have to have their full permission to
send them text messages.
Think of it this way — How would you
feel if someone texted you and you had no idea how they got your number? Probably pretty
angry. It's happened to all of us. Don't make that same mistake, especially with your
business or brand. Get permission. It's not hard and makes all the difference in the
world.
Here's a simple way of looking at it:
Step 1: Adding Contacts
We offer a few great ways to add contacts to your account:
Mobile Keyword Autoresponders
These are a great way to add contacts to your list automatically. To get started, click on
AUTORESPONDERS > MOBILE KEYWORDS in the left-hand navigation of your dashboard. You can then
purchase a keyword and set the auto-response message. Click here to read more about
autoresponders.
Upload Contacts
You can upload a pre-existing list of numbers with the understanding that you have gotten
prior written consent from these individuals, and it can be proven. To upload contacts,
click MY CONTACTS > UPLOAD CONTACTS in the left-hand navigation of your dashboard.
Add Single Contacts
You can add individual contacts by going to MY CONTACTS > CONTACTS & GROUPS and clicking on
the +Add A Contact link again with the understanding that you have prior consent to send
them messages.
Step 2: Sending Text Messages
With Mozeo, you can send single text messages, group text messages, or mass messages to your entire audience.
Sending a Single Text Message
1. In the left-hand navigation of your dashboard, click on TEXT MESSAGING > SEND
SINGLE MESSAGE.
2. Type the phone number of the person you wish to send a message to in the phone number
field with just the digits (ex. 3155551234).
3. Once the number shows up, click the message button in the controls.
4. Type your message and hit SEND NOW.
Sending a Group Text Message
1. In the left-hand navigation of your dashboard, click on TEXT MESSAGING > SEND
BULK MESSAGES.
2. Once there, click on the +New Text Message link at the top to create a
new message.
3. Type your message in the composer.
4. When you’re done editing, you’ll see an area to choose who to send the message to — your
entire list or a specific group(s).
5. Click +Add and send to a group instead.
6. When you’re ready to send your message, you can either hit the SEND NOW
button or schedule the message to send at a later time.
Sending a Broadcast Text Message
1. In the left-hand navigation of your dashboard, click on TEXT MESSAGING > SEND
BULK MESSAGES.
2. Once there, click on the +New Text Message link at the top to create a
new message.
3. Type your message in the composer.
4. When you’re ready to send your message, you can either hit the SEND NOW
button or schedule the message to send at a later time.
How often should I send out messages?
This is a question we get asked a lot, and it all depends on your use case. For example, if
you’re sending important alerts, it doesn’t matter. But, if you’re sending marketing text
messages, you should consider a max of (2) messages per week.
When you’re getting started, be sure to watch your opt-out rates diligently. This will give
you a good idea if people are OK with the number of messages you’re sending. In our history,
we’ve noticed that sending too many messages almost always increases your opt-out rates.
It’s up to you to find the sweet spot with your customers.
Step 3: Receiving Text Responses
After you send a text message, you may get responses back from your contacts. Here’s how to check them and respond:
1. In the left-hand navigation of your dashboard, click on INBOX. You can
also click the inbox icon in the header of your dashboard.
2. Once there, you’ll be able to view all of your conversations. Click on any conversation
to see the back and forth messages.
3. There will be a message composer at the bottom to edit and send your message if you want
to reply.
